His Majesty King Letsie III


His Majesty King Letsie III, Head of State, is the Chancellor of the National University of Lesotho. Since his Inauguration some years back, he has continued to build on the finest traditions of the past to promote a bright future for this  University with a mission to contribute to the social, economic and educational renaissance of the region.

The Chancellor follows in the footsteps of noble, courageous and pathbreaking intellectual giants including Sir Hugh Stephenson, CBE, KCMG, Sir Seretse Khama KBE, King Sobhuza II and King Moshoeshoe II.


Through his formal and informal functions, His Majesty King Letsie III, provides the institutions with inspirational leadership and an agenda to follow. He has on many occasions directed the institution to act as a think-tank of the nation and a centre of excellence in this sub-region, an agenda that the institution is following.

Under His Majesty’s aegis, the NUL stands to scale loftier heights in the 21st century.
