The biological sciences deal with all living things.The Department of Biology offers B.Sc. (with curricular options in Botany, Zoology, Biology and Biotechnology) and B.Sc. Honours (in Conservation and Environmental Ecology). Zoology and Botany options allow students to emphasise course work dealing with animals and plants while Biotechnology will give exposure to industrial applications of Biology. All courses in the department are designed to introduce students to modern molecular approaches to life sciences as well as more classical approaches.
The Biology degree from NUL is accepted by most overseas universities for further training in Biology, Medicine, Veterinary Sciences, Agriculture and other allied disciplines.
The National University of Lesotho through the Department of Political and Administrative studies launched a project on “Democratic Accountability in Service Delivery of Policing in Lesotho”.
The National University of Lesotho has received a grant to the value of M10 million from the government of Lesotho, through the Ministry of Education of Training.
